A quick note

How was your weekend?

We'll that's nice and thanks for asking about ours. We have been busy and are working on a couple of items behind the scenes. You may notice a couple of changes around the website.

The one item I would like to draw your attention to is that we are experimenting on the video encoding formats. Please take a look at them and if you have any feedback, drop us a note.

I would hate to ruin any surprises but strange things are afoot at the Circle K. We got some good content a simmering away and we are planning our next big release of Radiant Vista in the upcoming months.

A big thanks for everyone's continued support and suggestions. Keep them coming!

Have a wonderful day!

A little computer maintenance this weekend

Hello awesome and loyal Radiant Vista users.

We are in the process of upgrading the computer hardware running Radiant Vista this weekend. There may be a couple bumps in the road but we have planned the migration so that you won't see our dust (don't worry, you don't need to clean your sensors).

I am planning on doing the bulk of the work on Sunday April 14th in the afternoon around 11am PST. During the afternoon, you may notice that I locked out the Community forum or you may see an error. Don't fret. Just try again in 10 minutes.

If you notice that things are still amiss after 10 minutes of absolute boredom, please drop us a note to support@radiantvista.com.

Thanks for your patience and continued support!

With Love,
Peter

Tutorial Updates & Support Delay

Hi Everyone,

Just a couple of quick updates...

Workshops are concluding in Death Valley this week. Craig has posted a critique which will be released on Monday, March 10th. We'll be getting back to regularly posted Daily Critiques on Monday, March 17th.

In the absence of the Daily Critique this week, we'd like you to join Mark for the first of a four-part Color Management video tutorial series!

On each of the next four Tuesday's, we'll be releasing a new tutorial that sheds light on the confusing color management equation.

Part one covers how to calibrate your monitor into a universal state. Part two discusses how to configure Photoshop's Color Settings dialogue. Part three makes sense of the soft-proofing process. Lastly, part four explains how to apply an ICC paper profile in the printer dialogues.

The week of March 10th through March 14th will be an odd one where all of The Contributors of The Radiant Vista will be traveling. There will be very limited site support during this time. If you have trouble with Goodies orders or need general site support, please email... but please understand that there will be a short delay in responding until March 15th when we'll follow up with everyone.

Have a great week!

If you're interested in attending a Radiant Vista workshop in 2008, there are (2) spaces open on the recently added Death Valley workshop, February 17th - 23rd with Craig Tanner.

With the Next Step workshops having waiting lists over 15 people each... and both Grand Teton and Zion full with waiting lists underway, this is the perfect opportunity to join Craig and The Radiant Vista for a truly unique workshop experience.

If you have any questions, or if you would like to attend, please e-mail us right away!

The Daily Critique

Hopefully we will be able to resume new episodes of The Daily Critique shortly. At your suggestion, we've dug into the Radiant Vista's "Way Back Machine" and pulled some episodes from the archives... starting with todays episode from exactly 2 years ago 1/8/2006. We'll continue to re-release episodes until new recordings resume. Thanks for your patience!

The Complete Collection is being updated!

Lastly, if you are still missing a Daily Critique fix, the bi-annual update to The Complete Collection for the 2nd half of 2007 should be complete and available for download sometime over the weekend. Stay tuned!

The Wildflowers of Crested Butte Workshop

Mark Johnson and Charles Needle proudly present The Wildflowers of Crested Butte, from July 7 - 13, 2008! This workshop takes place during the annual Crested Butte Wildflower Festival when a profusion of pastoral blossoms are peaking. In addition to capturing the summer splendor, students will photograph colorful Victorian homes, quaint hanging-basket wildflower displays, and historic narrow alleys in the charming town of Crested Butte, Colorado.

With a combined 15 years of teaching experience, Mark and Charles will guide you with exuberant, personalized attention both in the field and classroom, sharing creative image-making techniques that will inspire you to develop your personal vision, expand your photographic horizons, and create images previously unimaginable. In addition to field instruction, you will experience digital darkroom classroom lectures and supportive image evaluations. Field instruction emphasizes creative macro, impressionistic flower, architectural detail, and wide-angle grand scenic photography. Classroom instruction features color correction and image blending techniques. This is a digital capture and darkroom workshop which permits students to capture images at first light and begin experimenting with them in the classroom shortly thereafter.

Please visit the workshop listing or download a beautiful PDF to learn more.

Admin Note: Craig and Matt will be working on a project in Death Valley National Park, December 2nd through December 14th. Unfortunately, this means that response times to website support e-mail and workshop inquiries may be a little delayed during this time. We're going to do our best to respond to issues timely on the road. Mailed workshop registrations and Goodies shipments will continue to be processed normally as they are received. Have a great week everyone!
