What an inspiring showcase and commentary.
Marcia, I don't think there's *any* question you can achieve your vision as a photographer. I'm glad to hear you're going for it! Along the way, you are inspiring me too. Thank you.
Ok. Next time I'm on the lakefront, after the sun rises, instead of heading home I'm going to start asking people if I can take their pictures. And with so many walking their dogs, we have instant props!
Craig, your enthusiasm carried so strongly through the ethernet on this one, I'm excited and can't wait to get out there to shoot again. :)
Way to go Marcia!!!!
Thankyou Craig both for your teachings at The Next Step and for this "Inspiration". For everyone else I was on the workshop with Marcia and I found this exercise very difficult.
I had success with other exercises but for some reason this one didnt work for me and I felt nothing but a big block. Seeing these images again and hearing Craigs words has reminded me of my problem and the fact that it was just that - my problem. I wasnt fearful, I wanted it to work but somewhere inside me I was just saying "no". Marcia said "YES YES YES" and just look at the wonderful results.
My unreserved recommendation to any other photographers is to say YES and to take the next step
I just got back from the RV Street Portraiture workshop and was inspired by seeing this group of photographs. Craig spoke frequently of Marcia's power to connect during the workshop and I am amazed at what she was able to do without speaking. This is a tough exercise and she did it beautifully. Well done Marcia and good luck on your transition.

I second Ian's vote - WAY TO GO, MARCIA! We in the workshop had a chance to see the complete set, and we were all blown away by the sheer number of shots you completed. (Not to mention that virtually all of them were technically and artistically very nice, too.)
And also thanks to Craig and Marti for The Next Step experience. My experience with this exercise was a slow start, until I heard Craig's voice in my head asking, "Whose 'no' are you listening to?" Once that kicked in, the first couple of positive reactions provided enough reinforcement to keep going, and I had a successful outing, but I still applaud Marcia's results.
Yes!

Marcia's portraits and Craig's commentary are an inspiration to me to get out and start shooting again, after a dry spell where an injury has been an excuse for relative inactivity. I remember the exercise from The Next Step a year ago, and I actually enjoyed it. Marcia, you have my intention for a successful project, and I am looking forward to seeing it published. Margaret and I enjoyed meeting you in Savannah at Murphy's Law, and hope we can connect in Madison sometime soon.

Marcia,
Thank you for stepping out, thank you for sharing your work with us, and thank you for sharing yourself. You have my (and many other's) support and best wishes in your new endeavor.

Marcia
Joy to you for finding the courage to go with what you believe in. And thanks. Your photos and the achievement they represent are inspirational.
Craig
Sounds to me like you speak from your heart. The world and the societies we create become enriched by those who speak from love rather than fear. Thank you for putting together such a simple and challenging video.
